One of India’s premier design labels Satya Paul, presented its wonderful collection ‘Kaleidoscope – Inspirations of truth’ at Colombia’s Hotel Galadari at the occasion of the Vogue Lifestyle Weekend recently in 2008. Organized in alliance with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, by the Rotary Club of Colombo Regency, the event unveiled a beautiful countenance of Indian fashion.
The event was a true treat for the eyes with the presence of renowned glitterati of the Indian fashion world. Some of the popular faces that scorched the burning hot ramp were Parvathy Omanakuttam, Femina Miss India World 2008, Tania Vyas, Femina Miss India Earth 2008, and leading names of beauty pageants like Miss Sri Lanka of years 2007 and 2008. However, the real show stopper for the event was popular and sizzling Bollywood actor, Neha Dhupia. These beauties sauntered the ramp donning the colorful ethnic creations of Satya Paul.
Last year in Satya Paul’s show held in World Trade Centre in downtown Dubai, the designer earned accolades for his fascinating range of beautiful saris. The colors that ruled the ramp at that time were deep reds and classic blacks, which Indian women even women across the globe cannot resist. This year’s collection of Satya Paul’s saris was striking and completely different, but extremely alluring. Puneet Nanda, the Design Head of Satya Paul, while speaking about the exquisite collection of saris stated, “Through this collection we want to highlight our strong focus on conserving the environment. The collections in the Kaleidoscope series are very contemporary and stylish and I hope these are appreciated”.
As the name of the collection goes, Kaleidoscope has been inspired from truth, thus it is an honest tribute to the overwhelming world of art and nature. Compiling together four separate stories, the collection is divided into two categories. There were two collections, which inspired by Mother Nature. The saris under this group mainly highlighted the urgent need to protect and conserve wildlife and green trees. This theme is reflected well in the saris with innovative prints, animal and trees motifs and some saris are also embellished with tinted and dazzling Swarovski crystals. The saris and stoles that were showcased had rich hues such as deep purple, turquoise, emerald green, flaming scarlet, bright blues, and orange, managing to capture the quintessential spirit of nature. The creative and bold usage of the animal motifs and trees has given the creations of Satya Paul a more modern edge.
There were 2 other collections of saris enthused by the works of 20th Century top rated artists, Rene Magritte and Pablo Picasso. Picasso collection highlighted clothes inspired from paintings such as “The Girl before the mirror” and others. On the other hand, the Magritte collection was one-step ahead of surrealism, one of his preferred forms of art.
