Fashion and accessories always go hand in hand. One can never imagine making a fashion statement without the right accessories. You may be flaunting your dazzling saris or salwar kameez, but if you choose the correct accessories then you can really cause a stir. You cannot imagine a prominent fashion show in India without the use of both elegant and flamboyant accessories. If we take the instance of recent Spring Summer collection 2009 at the Lakme Fashion Week then we can have a good idea of the accessories that are in this season.
If you thought that the cummerbund is meant only for Indian outfits like lehengas and saris then you are probably mistaken. The collections of Deepika Gehani and Shantanu & Nikhil proved everyone wrong. They adorned their flowing gowns as well as trendy dresses with eye-catching cummerbunds. Day one at the fashion event also had other accessories on display. Next was Asmita Marwah’s show and she displayed cool hip belts that were worn with skirts, jumpsuits, and dresses. At the Shane and Falguni Peacock show, one got to see neon shaded footwear. It was all about punk chic with sky-high stilettos in bubble gum pink.
If you were on day two of the event then you would understand that fashion is actually not about clothes only. It was the day for gorgeous accessories. Silver maang tikkas were a rage a Pallavi Jaipur’s show. In case of the Tarun Tahiliani show, the models managed their unruly hair with glittering clips. The Gurpreet Pia Fleming show grabbed attention with very trendy shoes that had bog buckles ankle and cuffs. The Anupama Dayal show certainly did not fail to grab attention with the beautiful silver orb earrings. They were minimal yet fashionable.
Day 3 was the day for shoes and bags. You could also catch a glimpse of hats with a quirky style. The simple Mary Jane flats at day four was cool enough to add a girlish charm any dress at the shows by Meghna Agarwal and Kiran Jaisinghani. White strapped platform heels were other fashion accessories. At the Anand Bhushan show, the models wore these with knee length skirts. At the Arshiya Fakih Eappen show, gold pumps were sensational. The final day showcased mango-colored sneakers, strappy silver sandals, long tasseled earrings, and plenty of colorful and funky footwear.
You can experiment with your coolest accessories and wear them with your fashionable saris, kurtis, and any other outfits.
