The first two days at the wonderful Lakme Fashion Week were stunning with the collection of talented designers. The first day or October 20 was dramatic as Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut walked the ramp flaunting the creations of Narendra Kumar Ahmed. Later Mughda Godse also joined then to promote their forthcoming film, ‘Fashion’. Amid a lot of cheering the actor of the film, Arjan Bajwa said that “As for Nari’s clothes, they were revolutionary, as always.” Television actress, Simone Singh discovered that Narendra was very particular about the “signature style of elegant evening dresses”. She also liked the skinny pants that he showcased.
The first row was star studded and included many members of the Indian film industry. Suchitra Pillai found that the ensembles were “very young in spirit”. Special mention should made of the printed jeans and the use of lively colors. Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra caused a lot of drama with silhouettes in black and red at the Lakme Fashion Week. Actor Suneil Shetty, Perizad Zorabian, Ashish Choudhary, and others took their seats in the front row. According to Suneil Shetty, “The entire show was very classy”, and he “personally loved the men’s wear!” Singer Sharon Prabhakar also occupied the front row as well and she was there to cheer Shahzaan Padamsee, her daughter who was the showstopper for Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra.
Day two at the LFW was also starry day. Tarun Tahiliani’s show with his accessories silhouettes, and designs for Levi’s were stunning. The front row as usual was studded with celebrities, actors, and socialites. The audience applauded the charming collection of jeweled chain bustiers, wrinkled skinny jeans, denim hot pants decorated with gold coins, denim jackets adorned with Swarovski crystals, pencil skirts decked with Apsara chains, and much more. His trademark bling certainly dazzled the front row crowd
Actor Rahul Bose said, “..whatever I saw on the ramp today was impressive. I didn’t think denim was so versatile. Also, since Tarun has always done a bridal sequence in his shows, I loved the way he portrayed his bride in bleached white jeans, covered with jeweled chains and crystals, worn by actress Sonam Kapoor.” In fact, this budding actress, took the audience with surprise with her peppy walk on the ramp. Aarti Surendranath, a renowned fashionista in Mumbai said that it was very “refreshing to see a young collection in denim designed by him!” Tarun Tahiliani generally designs sarees, lehengas, and bridal wear but this event saw him emerging with fresh ideas.
